My Gems still life

Here is the finished version of the William Harnett "My Gems" drawing I did for art class. This was a great exercise and I think it has brought me a long way in terms of my art and realism. Took me about 6 weeks to finish. The most nervewracking part was the music notes on the paper. I hope no one ever tries to play the song because I totally did my own thing where the notes were concerned. Anyway, this piece probably represents the most effort I've put into something and gets me closer to painting. I have one more exercise before I start painting. Yay!!

Josh (Children's Portraits)

I am finished with the portrait of Rachel's brother Josh. Here is the final version. He had a lot of the same facial features as Rachel. He also had this big toothy smile which was fun to draw. Kids are so rewarding to draw. I won't say I am drawing kids' exclusively but that is what I am targeting, so please spread the word. If you came to my webpage as a result of the ad in the savvy shopper and want a portrait of your child, see the portrait of Rachel a few posts down and feel free to browse around at my other work. Send me an email at teresa@teresaartist.com and we can get something started for you!

William Harnett - My Gems

Here is my latest project from art class in progress. The first picture is a painting by William Harnett called My Gems. The 2nd is my in progress drawing that I have been working on in art class. I have been working on this puppy for several weeks and it will probably take a few more weeks to finish it. After this one is done I think I have one more exercise until I start painting.

Rachel - Finished

Here is the finished version of Rachel. I am thrilled with the way it came out. I really believe this is my best work. Her brother Josh is next, will start that one next week. Kids are so much fun to work on because their smiles are so sweet and their eyes so bright. I know Rachel personally and she is the sweetest little girl. Her mom is one of my best friends. This was done on Rives BFK paper using a vull range of value pencils. After the new year I am going to do a little marketing for kids' portraits which will hopefully keep me busy. Also thinking about offering some drawing/portrait lessons.

Rachel - WIP 2

Making progress on Rachel. Hope to be done this weekend. Need to finish her hair and left side. It is black and white but I sepia'd it because it makes for a better digital version. I am having a lot of fun with this one and can't wait to share the finished version. I think it is going to be my best work so far.
